Will he be there today..? It's been a week since we first met, I wonder if he thinks I won't be back. I've been so busy I didn't get a chance to go- "Ami!" A voice broke through my meditation, loud and very close to my left ear. "Ouch Kat, shut your big-ass trap." I complained while dramatically plugging my ears as a child would. "Ami, I've called your name like a million times already! The last bell has already rang." she informed me after she pulled my hands away from my head. "Already?" I questioned aloud, speaking to myself more than anyone though.

"Yes! So let's go, come on." She hauled me out of my chair, I put my full weight against her. "Noo, I'm so tired." I whined, I think she was the only person I could drop all of my defenses around. Well, her and... "Stop it!" she growled, "I can't hold you for ever like this." I picked myself up and began walking for the door. "You okay?" Kat called after me as she grabbed her books off the desk she had been sitting at. "Wait up!" I stopped at the door to wait on her. "What's going on?" she asked as we stepped into the hall. As we spoke, she followed me to my locker.

"Nothing really," I lied "just school and work. It tires me out after a while, ya know?". I started to undo my combination when she nudged me. "I bet it's hard.." she spoke softly, "Want me to come home with you tonight? It is Friday, and you know I have nothin' better to do". The thought of seeing Willow surged through me again. "Ahhh..." just play it cool "That's okay, I'm just going to go home and get into bed early most likely, kind of boring for you, right?" I said calmly, almost tried to sound tired.

"Yeah.. okay," she replied "How 'bout Saturday then? You wanna see a movie?" she grinned, I faked a yawn and smiled back. "Yeah, sounds like a plan.. I'll text you, okay?" we had been walking and talking again, so by now we had reached the parking lot. "Don't fall asleep at the wheel!" she teased, "Ugh, it's not even that bad! You're so corny." I laughed as I spoke. "Kat, you always crack me up." I said, opening the door now. I scooted in and closed it behind me, rolling down the window right after wards. "I love you baby girl." she grabbed my hand through the opening, I squeezed it. "Love you too, kitten."

Katherine Monroe had been my best friend ever since I moved here. She was the first to talk to me and we made friends right away. She's such a sweet heart but no one gives her a chance because her parents are both in prison. Living with her grandparents was the best thing for her. They too, have always been so kind to me. For now all she and I really have is each other.

Kat released my hand and backed away still smiling sweetly, as she tucked a dark curl behind her ear. "Have a good night." I called to her, backing out. "You too!" she shouted while cupping her hands around her mouth, to help her voice carry. I stuck my hand out and waved back at my best friend, and felt the quilt start to eat at me. Why didn't I just tell her what was really bothering me? Because she'd thing the stress has gotten to your brain. Kat wasn't like that though, she has never judged me for anything. If I really do see him again today, I'll tell her. It was a promise.

I pulled up to the house and parked. Turning down the radio and then rolling up the window, I spotted Mom on the front porch in her pajamas. She was sitting on our old bench smokin'. I walked along the sidewalk that led up to the house. "Hey Mom." I greeted her "How's it going?". I took out my smokes and lit one up too. "Headache." she puffed out a ring of smoke. "You drink too much." I grumbled, then stalked inside to the kitchen, I was hungry! "Ohh, no foood..." I moaned Guess I'll have to go shopping. Again. I grabbed the orange juice and drank straight from the carton.

I heard Mom come in after me, she tapped me on the shoulder, "Here, it's not much but it's enough for some groceries" she said quietly. I put the carton back in the fridge and turned to face her. "Thanks," I smiled "Anything special you want?" I was so surprised I felt like being generous as well. "Nah, just get me some more cigarettes. Get whatever you want for yourself" she was headed for the TV now. "Oh, okay.." I basically spoke to no one at that point, so I just shoved the bill into my pants and started for the stairs.

Once I made it to my room I threw my pack onto bed, closing the door behind me. I started for my bathroom to clean up a little bit. At the mirror I peered into the eyes that were peering back at me and frowned. I had my mother's cobalt eyes, just as Willow had said. I felt a heat rush over my cheeks and then noticed my face wash flushed. I brought my hands up and slapped at the reddish hue only to realize I made it worse. "your eyes are such a stunning blue" his silken voice echoed through my mind. "Ugh!" I raked my brush through my short hair and put it up into a small ponytail, letting the bangs fall freely. "Fine, I'll go see him!" I shouted. At who? I didn't know..

Today wasn't as cold as it was last weekend, but I still needed a light jacket. Today I wouldn't be so embarrassed. I would be wearing jeans and a midriff instead of pajama pants and a t-shirt. No fat coat this time either. I looked myself over one more time, checking my make-up before I left the bathroom. I closed it's door behind me, but stopped mid-center of my room. It was a small room, but it had nice big windows over where my bed sad. From the doorway it was on the north wall, my dresser to the south by the door. I didn't care much for material things besides good clothes. I'll admit that I did have a nice stereo on top of the dresser and excessive posters plastered on the walls. Other than that, not much else.

What does.. Willow think of me I wonder? I felt a lump in my throat as I pictured his pretty face in my mind again. The soft wind blown curls and the appalling power of his gaze.. I shut the front door behind me and crammed my hands into my pockets. I started for the woods growing nervous. Would he be angry that it's been a week? Had he been thinking of me as of as I had been thinking of him? My pace was slow and even but I felt like I was moving so fast, it scared me, even. I could see my hands shake as I pushed the brush out of the way. Why am I so nervous?

I crouched low so I could crawl under and find a break through to the other side. I knew where we first met was close. Just keep calm The tree he sat in when I first spotted him was just up ahead. I widened my stride and tried to pick up the pace. "Willow!" I shouted, I was at the trunk now. "Hello?" I asked, wondering if anyone would answer. Maybe Willow never was real... Maybe I'm just crazy. A large gust of wind behind me forced me to turn and face it. "Willow?" I called his name again, hopeful now. Then there was a warm breath on my neck, "Amirina" a voice whispered at my right ear, the warmth in it almost made me melt. "Yes?" I replied but didn't turn.

"You're here." he spoke louder now, and then my shoulders were clutched tightly. "Yes." I repeated with a grunt of pain. "oh, sorry." he released me, I turned to face him. "How are you? I breathed out, I knew I'd have fingers as bruises in the morning. "I'm great now," he grinned and then he took hold of my hand "Come, I want to show you something." he tried to pull me along beside him, "Wait!" I tried to tug against him, but his grip was iron clad compared to mine. "Ah," I whimpered a little, Is my arm still attached? he suddenly stopped in his tracks, causing me to slam into him.

Even though he had such a small frame, he was a good one foot taller than me. Onto my butt I went, great. Then he was there at my side, "Are you okay?" he asked, with looks of real concern in his eyes. He subconsciously put his hand on my thigh(I was guessing?!) My face changed shades quickly at that point. "Yes, fine," I said swiping his hand up into mine, "Ju~st perfect!" I spit out quickly. Phew! Talk about close contact.. I stood, pulling him onto his feet as well. "Okay, but why did you want to stop?" he asked, serious now. His hand remained linked with mine, "Well, I was wondering if you would like to, uh.." what was I saying??"Come to my house?" I tried to smile, but it felt lopsided.

His serious expression fell, leaving sadness behind. "What's wrong?" I asked, looking up into his dark eyes. Did I say something weird? "I can't." he said. He couldn't? What was that about? "What do you mean? I pressed, gently. "Well.. that's what I wanted you to see.." He spoke slowly, solemnly. "Oh," I wondered what it was now. "then show me!" I started forward trying to drag him along now. It wasn't working as planned. "well?" I asked. He was just standing there, thinking maybe? Then he looked up at me, resolve burning in his eyes. "Okay!" he agreed.
